Sausage Bread

Pinterest has become my new storage place for all recipes, so yes, I'm about to post this recipe just so I can pin it to my boards. You're welcome to try the recipe too. Guaranteed to be super easy and delish! Props to Mary Margaret for passing this recipe along!

Sausage Bread

2 ½ c. Bisquick
1 lb. sausage, browned and drained
½ c. mayonnaise
¾ c. milk
2 eggs, well beaten
8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
8 oz. shredded Monterrey jack cheese (I like to use shredded pepper jack)

Can Someone Hand Me A Towel?

I had such an eventful weekend, so I'm running on low fumes.

We spent the day Friday in Oxford at an all day CPE (continuing education). When it was over Friday afternoon, we drove the hour back home, packed, and headed to Nashville.
Rodney's sister & brother were both running in the Music City Marathon. We wanted to get there early enough to show our support. We got there super late and then got up super early to drive them to the race start.
By the time they were dropped off, the police had started shutting down streets. We were having a very very difficult time getting to where we were going to watch the race. We had the address plugged into the gps, but it obviously wasn't taking into account all the blocked roads.
I was getting a tad bit hangry. So was Rodney. So the fighting began. We just decided to give up and just go eat! (best solution to any problem--just go eat! unless your problem is that your pants are too tight)
We have visited Nasvhille tons of time but have never been to Pancake Pantry, so we decided to go! It was pretty early in the morning, and the wait was only about 5 minutes. We got really lucky! I already want to go back again. I got the sugar & spice pancakes and Rodney got the Carribean pancakes. We both voted, and mine were definitely better than his! My mouth is watering just typing this!

After we finished eating, we realized that we were only a few blocks from where we were originally supposed to watch the race. Oh..did I mention it was pouring rain this whole time? We walked from Pancake Pantry to the race. Kris made signs for the runners. Ha!

They finished the race -- and everyone was drenched!

After a much needed nap and a change into dry clothes, we ate dinner at Sambuca.

Rodney & Priscilla went to the Jimmy Buffett concert after dinner. I can't stand to listen to more than one Buffett song at a time, so I was thrilled to be out of having to go. Thanks Cil! :)

I pray you all had a fabulous weekend and have a wonderful week!

5 Books Every Young Woman Should Read
The Glass Castle - Jeannette Walls
This isn't just a suggestion for young women. Everyone should read this book. Her story really opens your eyes to other people's problems. When you feel like you're having a bad day and want to complain, read this book for a little perspective.

Stephanie Plum series - Janet Evanovich

This is the perfect book for an easy read. This series will leave you laughing so hard!
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants - Ann Brashares

Ok..ok..I know..I know. I haven't actually read this book in years. When I read this book, I remember being so taken by the friendships these girls had. And yes, I was also amazed that they could all wear the same pair of jeans, but that's besides the point.

Mark of the Lion series - Francine Rivers

The first book of this series took a few chapters for me to get into it. There were quite a few weird foreign names, and I couldn't keep everyone straight. After getting past the first little bit, I could not put these books down. They love story and familial story draw you in. This book does not disappoint.

The Forgotten Garden - Kate Morton

I would be remiss if I didn't include this book. I just finished it this weekend, and I'm obsessed. It is definitely a must read.

Mud Bugs

I went to my very first crawfish boil this weekend and had so much fun!

Thanks to Jennifer for having us over!

 There was lotssss of eating

 getting acquainted with dinner

 A little bit of karaoke

 some cheesin' for the camera....

and of course lots of girl time!

Another other noteworthy weekend news--we saw Oblivion and we both really liked it!

http://www.fanfootage.fr/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/OBLIVION-TOM-CRUISE-MORGAN-FREEMAN.jpg

The only question this movie left me with is this: Does Tom Cruise age at all? He doesn't seem to get any older. Maybe we should all go jump on a few couches?

Hope you all have a fabulous week!

What Season Is It?

Dress: Kate Spade
Shoes: Tory Burch

Squint squint! I can't keep my eyes open outside when the sun actually decides to come out.

Can the weather make up its mind? I can't figure out what to wear half the time, so why not just wear a dress with a hole in it for ventilation in case it gets hot. I kid.

And can we talk about those pasty legs I'm standing on? I just got the St. Tropez mousse and applied it for the first time this week (after this pic). I'm obsessed. It is so easy, looks so natural, and is not orangey! LOVE! It's a little pricey, but totally worth it in my opinion. Have you ever tried it?

The Return of the Junkie

It's time for the monthly literary junkies link up!

What are you currently reading? Tell us about it!
The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton

http://violetcrush.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/forgotten_garden.jpg

I just started it and am only a few chapters in, but so far, I love it! Kate is a serious wordsmith! Her writing just makes me say "wow!"

Let's learn about each others Reading Habits!! Answer the following questions either with a simple answer or with lots of details! Up to you! :)

Amazon or brick and mortar?
amazon

Locally owned bookshop or big name chain store?
local

Bookmark or dog-ear?
Bookmark -- I feel bad about bending a book!

Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random?
neither - my read books are just organized by what looks the best on my bookshelf ha!

Keep, throw away, or sell?
keep

Keep dust jacket or toss it?
Keep!

Read with dust jacket or remove it?
With.

Short story or novel?
Novel

Collection (short stories by same author) or anthology (short stories by different authors)?
hmm..I"m not a fan of short stories.. so can I say neither?

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?
I prefer chapter breaks to stop. I usually read at night though, so sometimes I just have to shut the book before I fall asleep.

“It was a dark and stormy night” or “Once upon a time”?
Once upon a time I suppose? Dark and stormy sounds like a scary book.

Buy or borrow?
Borrow - free is better!

New or used?
I honestly don't mind. If I can find it cheaper used then I'm all for it.

Buying choice: book reviews, recommendation or browse?
A little of all three. I absolutely hate to waste my time reading a crappy book, so I do lots of research before starting a new book.

Tidy ending or cliffhanger?
Tidy ending - all day long. I hate not knowing what happened!

Morning, afternoon or nighttime reading?
Nighttime. Work is morning and afternoon even though I would prefer to be reading instead of working.

Single volume or series?
Series! If it's a good author then I would love to continue reading something with characters I've fallen in love with.

Favorite series?

Totally cliche, but I have to say the Harry Potter series.

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
I hate to disappoint, but I don’t think I have anything I’ve read that nobody else has heard of. I usually only read stuff that has been vetted by other people.

Weekend Shenans

I had a wonderful weekend spent with my family and spent out of the office!

My sister was in Oxford for orientation, so they just drove on up to Olive Branch to stay with us since it was closer than driving all the way back to Belmont.

My sister being the food freak she is insisted on going to Huey's. Here's her happy vine. :)

Saturday morning, Hannah had an interview back in Oxford, so we got up suuuuper early. Being the food freak that I am, I insisted on going to my favorite - Big Bad Breakfast. As usual, it did not disappoint!

The weather was GORGEOUS, and we spent a while walking around the square and browsing in all the boutiques. I was a very good girl and didn't buy anything though. Ole Miss had their spring game Saturday, so the energy in town was so fun! Everyone had their red and blue on for the game later in the day.

Saturday night, we wen to Mellow Mushroom for dinner. At this point, I feel like my weekend has become a food recap. I like food a little too much.

After church, I took a niiiice Master's golf nap. Golf sure is a nice background show to play while napping.

The rest of the afternoon was spent cleaning out my closet. Let's just say I was having trouble finding camisoles, matching pairs of shoes, etc. I still have some work to do, but I'm heading in the right direction.

I am beyond excited that April 15 is here! I will have a life again, and I promise to be a better blogger. :)

Thanks to #howshouldweaccountforme for summing up my celebratory mood!

Makeup Organization Find!

I'm a nerd when it comes to organization. You may not can tell by looking at certain areas of my life (my closet for example) but I lurrrve me some organization.

I recently discovered that Emily Maynard has started her own blog. For the record, she's not my favorite person, but you can't deny that this girl knows fashion and makeup. (her level of personality is debatable)

I was beyond excited when I saw that her most recent post is about makeup organization.

I have been dying to have an acrylic makeup drawer storage for my bathroom countertop, but I am not willing to cough up the cash for such an expensive storage item.

Emily found these shoe storage boxes at the Container Store --- and they're only $8 each!!

ShoeBoxPic
Unfortunately, there's not a container store anywhere near me, so I had to pay shipping. Whomp womp...
And they're backordered right now. Double whomp whomp.
I'll post a pic when I get everything together though! :)

Hat Hat Hooray!

I attended a women's conference at my church Saturday and had such a great time!

The theme was friendships and the speaker was Rita Sweatt. She was amazing! If you ever get the opportunity to hear her speak, you best jump on it. You won't regret it!

Everyone wore a hat, so we couldn't be the only ones without a hat, right?

In addition to the amazing word from Rita, we had some breakout groups as well.

 I learned to knit! (I'm not exactly a pro..obviously)

We also took a cake decorating class. I think I enjoyed eating the icing more than actually decorating the cakes though! I was shocked at how easy it actually is to decorate like the above pic. I would love to do something like this next time I bake desserts---if I can only keep from eating the icing before I ice the cupcakes.

Mary Margaret and I took Tucker for a drive after the conference, and I decided to see what he would do if I stuck him out the sunroof. Apparently, he thought he was swimming. This is what he does when you put him near water. We were dying laughing!

My white legs made their first appearance since last summer this weekend. I asked Rodney if they looked too awful. My husband -- bless him -- he can't lie to me about anything. His response was "they're not as dark as they usually are, but it's okay." umm. thanks. ha!

One more week until tax season is over!! Counting down the days!

Chocolate Cobbler---Yummm!!

I had bunco at my house last night, and a bunco night isn't complete without a good dessert! A coworker had texted me this recipe, so I had to type it out for future use. Pinterest has become my recipe box of sorts, so allow me to file this away. The recipe is super easy. Let me know if you try it!

6 tablespoons butter
1 cup self-rising flour
3/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups boiling water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in 8x8 inch baking dish. Stir together the flour, 3/4 cup sugar, and the 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa. Stir in milk & vanilla until smooth. Spoon this batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Stir together the remaing cup of sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa powder. Sprinkle over the batters. Slowly pour boiling water over the top of the mixture. Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until set. Serve warm with ice cream.
