Hope everyone had a safe & happy Halloween yesterday! I dressed up for work trick or treat as Raggedy Ann.
What a sweet doll! :) haha
And we're back again linking up this week with Beautiful Mess & Keep Calm & Carry On for
Saw it. Pinned it. Did it.
Today's post should be called Saw it. Pinned it. Screwed it up. Because that's exactly what I did.
Everyone has seen the iced coffee recipe from Pioneer woman floating around on Pinterest.
Looks delish, right?
I had gotten fed up with spending so much money at starbucks when I could just make it at home myself.
As you know already, I'm not Mrs. Susie Homemaker by any means, so when I read PW's recipe, I knew I needed to follow it to the letter.
Since she used enourmous container, I needed to use them too.
So, I bought two of these on amazon for $25 each. As well as the cheese cloth and strainer since I had none of these items on hand. I also bought a pound of coffee at starbucks.
After following all the instructions, I was so excited to try my first glass of iced coffe. I am not a patient person, so it was a big deal to let the coffee steep for so long. After pouring the liquid (I'm not even going to call it coffee.) into a pitcher, I noticed it was the consistancy oil. Oh well..maybe this is just a side effect of making it at home. I'm sure it will taste fine.
Nope.
It was terrible. And the worst part is that I have no idea how I messed it up. Usually I can say specifically where I deviated from the recipe and shouldn't have, but I can't think of a single thing I could have done wrong.
Now I'm stuck with huge container and cheese cloth that I will probably never use again. Typical.

Oh noooo! I have a very simple way to make iced coffee that isn't very difficult at all. I just make a regular pot of coffee. I sweeten it while it's still hot (amount of sugar/sweet n low, whatever, depends on how sweet you like your coffee). I turn off the coffee pot and let it cool then put it in a container (usually a nalgene because that's what I've got!) and stick it in the fridge. That one pot usually lasts me a week. I just mix it with my creamer and some ice in the morning!
I have a Keurig, but I may need to invest in a cheapo coffee maker that can make a whole pot of coffee. Thanks for the idea! The summertime just isn't complete without iced coffee! :)
Awwww hahaha! oh no! that sucks! Pinterest fails happen. Hopefully next time you will have a success :) I'm sure you will. xoxo thanks for linking up!
OK so the first pic made my mouth water bc I'm borderline obsessed with ice coffee...until I got to the end and it tasted like oil. Yuck!! SO sorry!!! It was an honest try?! Either way-thanks for linking up with us!! xoxo
Oh no! That's never any fun!! When I want iced coffee, I just make a cup just like I would drink it hot and pour it over LOTS of ice!! HAHA!!!
